As the world’s third largest religion, Hinduism is rooted in Indian’s daily lives and has
a significant impact on Indian’s society. Another essential element of the Indian community is
the caste system. There is no doubt that connections exist between Hinduism and the caste
system. Some opinions state that Hinduism is most concerned with the social orders of the
caste system. However, what this popular religion cares is not merely keeping the caste system.
First of all, no one can deny the profound influence which Hinduism can bring to the
caste system. With the widespread of some doctrines which advocate samsara or karma, lower
class people believe the only way to achieve happiness is to perform their duties which belong
to the class they belong to. Religion teaches them to find happiness from their current situation.
That represents a strong guarantee of the social orders of the caste system because lower castes
will not fight for changes. Also, one tradition concept is that undermining the principles of
the caste system is to end up with samsara. This is also security for the maintaining of the caste
system. From this perspective, Hinduism does pay attention to the caste system; however, its
central theme is not to keep the social orders under the caste system.
By retrospecting the origins of Hinduism and the caste system, no convincing evidence
can show the orders stipulated by the caste system would become the center of Hinduism.
Hinduism is a kind of cultural inheritance. It is the integration of sorts of religions and beliefs.
Since the birth of these religions did not accompany by the caste system, Hinduism, as a system,
will not be most concerned with the derived social orders. Furthermore, the caste system is the
outcome of Aryans’ invasion, which has a shorter history of religions. It is not what the doctrine
requires. Historically, the caste system gets birth from enslavement, and it services to the ruling

work, reverence for all life and more meaningful instruction, which bring positive effects to
humans’ lives. It can correct the public’s behavior and make the people being kind. A religion
should most focus on the faith of the truth, so civilizing people is the central meaning of it. So
does the Hinduism. It is more concerned about teaching people how to live a better life.
Finally, Hinduism does concern about the caste system and its social orders. However,
the caste system is merely a branch of Hinduism. Meanwhile, Hinduism made contributions to
the strict but behindhand social structure. As a religion, Hinduism has more central concerns.
Its initial focus point is the recognition and spread of divinity, and it is useful in teaching people
during the evolution, and it ultimately services for politics.
